Dubas doesn’t have to get that creative to make space. Leafs’ contracts are pretty movable. Nylander by himself or Johnsson and Kerfoot (sold separately). Holl, Dermott, Engvall and Mikheyev all easily movable as well.

It's pretty shocking that Ek is reporting that Al Pietrangelo WANTS to go to Toronto or Vegas. He hasn't said that publicly. He hasn't even been able to discuss a contract with either team. Obviously those teams would have interest in Pietrangelo, but how does that turn into Pietrangelo now has a preference for these two destinations? Did Al mention this to a source who then told Ek?
